Rimmel SunShimmer Instant Tan Bronzing Spray is the perfect product for instant effect. It gives a flawless colour in seconds. Clarins released its new Delectable Self Tanning Mousse earlier this year. And it's already earned a reputation as one of the best. The usual fake tan smell is a giveaway but Clarins has cleverly disguised this with a truly sublime peach fragrance. It's white so care has to be taken when applying that you don't miss spots or smear it anywhere. Color develops gradually, beginning a few hours after application. And it has SPF15 built-in - brilliant RRP £20.00

Estee Lauder is adding to its self-tanning range with the five new Bronze Goddess products. These come in different formats including a spray and our favourite, milk. It's not oily so it soaks into skin quickly without leaving a sticky residue. It's subtle is perfect if you want a hint of golden color. Color starts to develop in under one hour and it's easy to build up. The apricot fruit extract and coconut oil also help to disguise any of usual fake tan smell. RRP £20.50

Garnier Ambre Solaire's Self-Tan Velvety Gel is new on the market this year. And it's their first where the self-tanning ingredient is naturally derived. It gives long-lasting moisture to skin and gives a natural-looking tan. And it's streak-free. RRP £9.00

Fake Bake's Original Self Tanning Lotion is paraban free and uses natural tanning agents DHA and Erythulose. You can see where the colour goes and although you look like a chimney sweep when applied, it showers off to reveal lovely natural looking glow. RRP £24.95

Lancôme's Flash Bronzer Multi Angle Airbrush Body Spray is great for giving even colour coverage. Spray is super fine. It's enriched with vitamin E to keep skin lovely and soft. Leaves skin with a golden glow all-over. RRP £21.50

The grand-daddy of fake tan brands is St Tropez. The mousse is super-light and velvety. It dries relatively fast and color develops over the next few hours. Shower off to reveal the golden, natural color. RRP £20.00
